Overview

This urban walk, with its mix of old and new, follows the boundary of the City of London as marked out  by fourteen cast-iron dragons. On our route anti-clockwise from London Bridge we will see the dragons at key locations including Tower Hill, Aldgate, Bishopsgate,  Chancery Lane and Temple. After arriving at the two original Coal Exchange dragons on Victoria Embankment we will continue along the Thames, crossing over Blackfriars Bridge to return to London Bridge station. There will be a detour to the Barbican Centre for lunch via historic London Wall Place.

Mainly pavement walking along busy thoroughfares or quiet back streets. Many street crossings and a few flights of steep steps.  Multiple drop out points.

Toilets:  London Bridge station and the Barbican Centre

Lunch:  Barbican Centre: picnic advisable as cafe may be busy.

Train: London Bridge station (Zone 1) is served by the Jubilee and Underground lines and by Thameslink, Southern Trains and Southeastern Trains.
