Take a stroll through central London, exploring how the city was rebuilt after the Civil War and the Great Fire of 1666. Starting at the Barbican, we’ll walk through streets that took shape during the Restoration, when King Charles II returned to the throne. Along the way, we’ll see a mix of historic and modern architecture reflecting London’s continuous change.
We’ll also stop at 2 Temple Place, a neo-Tudor building on Victoria Embankment, where we’ll have lunch. The building is only open on selected days, and during our visit, it will be hosting the exhibition Lives Less Ordinary: Working-Class Britain Re-seen (free entry).
Train: Barbican Underground Station (served by Metropolitan, Circle and hammersmith & City Line)
Lunch: At 2 Temple Place, cafe (serves cakes and savoury pastries) or picnic.
Toilet: There will be a couple of planned stops for toilet breaks along the walk.
