Overview

Starting at the car park at Cowhouse Bank the route goes NE through the woods to Helmsley Bank, descending to Potter House, and crossing the edge of Helmsley Moor to Piethorn, stopping for lunch at the old lime kilns. We return via the Grade II listed St. Mary Magdalene's Church (built 1882) and Cowhouse Bank Wood.  There are a few stiles, plus one gate and a fallen tree that we will have to clamber over.  Towards the end of the walk there is a fairly steep path back up to the main track.

Tea afterwards at Cornercopia in Helmsley.
