Overview

Join me for this excellent walk in the 'Land of the Giant'. From the car park at Saltersgate we walk south west on the Tabular Hills Walk to Dundale Pond then onto Limpsey Gate Lane to the village of Levisham. Here we head west on field paths and a descent with good views of Levisham Station and maybe a steam train if we are lucky. A short distance on the road brings us to the edge of Levisham Moor where we follow the track to Skelton Tower and more spectacular views of Newton Dale. After lunch here we continue our journey first on the path at Levisham Bottoms and then we cut across the moor to walk on the edge of the escarpment passing Huggits Scar, Hudsons Cross and Yewtree Scar. This section of the moor will involve walking on a path through old heather. To finish we have a 'sting in the tail' climb up from the moor to our start point at the car park. Field paths, moorland tracks and some heather bashing.
