Overview

A linear walk from Midford along the railway path past Midford Castle, over Tucking Mill viaduct and through Combe Down tunnel (1 mile) and Devonshire tunnel. Then onto Bear Flat, round Alexandra Park and down Beechen Cliff to Bath city centre ending back at the bus station. Paved throughout so mud free, I hope. No stiles. One hill up to Alexandra Park.  Bring snack.  Back in Bath by lunch time.

Meet at Bath bus station BA1 1SS (Bay 8) and catch the D2 bus to Midford (Hope and Anchor BA2 7DD). This currently leaves at 10:35 and arrives at Midford at 10:47. Travel to Bath city centre by bus, train or use Odd Down Park and Ride (closest P&R stop to bus station). Alternatively, park near Beckington village hall BA11 6SH and catch the D2 from Birchwood bus stop to Midford – departs 09:49, arrives Midford 10:13 – and amuse yourself for half an hour, or Bath (I will be travelling all the way to Bath on this bus).
