Join me for a shorter Easter Monday afternoon walk across Wanstead Flats and through Wanstead Park to view the Repton Oak, enjoy the wide variety of bird life and to experience the beauty of the renowned bluebell woods before perhaps partaking in refreshments in one of Wanstead's many cafes, pubs or restaurants located on the High Street. We may have missed the Easter Rabbit and there is no guarantee of the bluebells being in full bloom as this is dependent on the season, however I can promise a very pleasant walk
This is a leisurely Easter Monday walk across grass flats and on established paths through a park. Whilst there may be some muddy patches these are easily skirted and trainers/casual footwear are suitable.
Travel:
Take the Central Line to Leytonstone Station (Zone 3) arriving to start walking at 1 pm and returning from Wanstead Station (Zone 4). There are also numerous bus options available. We will meet at the entrance to the station outside the cafe.
There is a tea hut located within Wanstead Park where we shall have a short stop to buy drinks and where toilets are available.
Dogs are welcome with well behaved owners who respect other walkers. Please note that there is a busy road crossing during this walk however there will be plenty of opportunities for off lead time.
No booking required for the walk.
The finishing time is an estimate only and will be dependent on a number of factors, such as, weather, the speed at which the group walks and the number of breaks taken
