Overview

Will you see bluebirds over the White Cliffs of Dover, well maybe not. You will however, see the Ashford Ramblers striding out, on one of the best walks in the county.

This 12 mile classic route starting from the National Trust site at Langdon Cliffs, begins by heading to South Foreland Lighthouse. We will pass the Dover Patrol Memorial, to carry on along the cliff edge on the England Coast Path. Our route drops down to Kingsdown, where will will stop for our picnic lunch stop, followed by drinks at either the Rising Sun or the Zetland Arms.

Our return leg sees us head slightly inland via Otty Bottom and Freedown, then to St Margarets-at-Cliffe. We once again return to the South Foreland Lighthouse, but finish off, by remaining slightly inland for the completion of this wonderful hike.

As mentioned above there is a picnic lunch and pub stop planned.

There are plenty of ups and downs with approximately 1600 foot of ascent, so is one of the more testing ones on the programme.
