Overview

A walk across several south west London commons and a royal park following the route of the Beverley Brook. Can be muddy in parts; some road walking where the Brook goes underground. From Wimbledon we cross the Common on the footpath through so-called Caesar’s Camp and pick up the Brook at the bottom. We walk to and through Richmond Park and then on to Palewell and Barnes Commons. We reach the Thames near Putney Bridge within easy reach of Putney Bridge tube or Putney mainline station.

Toilets:  Wimbledon station (District line platform); then after about 1.5 hours at the edge of Wimbledon Common; and at lunch stop in Richmond Park.

Lunch: Bring your own picnic as limited café facilities in Richmond Park which are likely to be busy.

Train: Wimbledon station (Zone 3) is served by District line; Nat Rail from Waterloo; or tram. Return from Putney Bridge (Zone 2; District line) or Putney mainline station (Zone 2/3; Nat Rail to Waterloo).
