Welcome to Capital Walkers, the friendly London Ramblers group for people aged 40+. We walk every weekend and usually at least once during the week.

Starting from Barnes Station we will walk up through suburban Putney to Putney Heath. We cross the Heath to reach Wimbledon Common and go on passing the Windmill to the War memorial at Wimbledon Village before turning West across the Common to descend to Beverley Brook. We follow the stream into Richmond Park and on to the lunch stop at Roehampton Gate.
After lunch we cross the Park passing some of its oldest trees leaving the Park at Petersham. The last part of the walk follows the River Thames into Richmond leaving the River at the site of the old Richmond Palace to reach our destination of Richmond Station.
Packed lunch is recommended however snacks and hot drinks are available at the lunch stop.
Lavatory facilities are available at half an hour into the walk in Richmond Park and at the lunch stop
Drop out points with bus connections are available at Wimbledon Village in the morning and Petersham in the afternoon.
No booking required.
No dogs.
Walking shoes should be fine.
The finishing time is an estimate only and will be dependent on a number of factors such as, weather, the speed at which the group walks and the number of breaks taken.
Travelling arrangements set out below might be affected by industrial action or other incidents that are unknown at the time of route posting.
Travel: 10.22 from London Waterloo, 10.26 at Vauxhall, 10.32 at Clapham Junction arrives at Barnes at 10.41.
