A walk deep in the Chiltern Hills... A walk of contrasts, initially passing through or on the edge of woods. Either surrounded by magnificent beech trees, with smooth, straight sliver trunks reaching towards the sky or other woodlands of broad leaf and coniferous trees. The path then crosses the Grand Union canal where the final part of the walk is a delight. Walking through Duchies Piece nature reserve and Aldbury Woods before emerging onto Pitstone Hill with outstanding views of Ivanhoe Beacon.
The final undulating miles lead to the top of Beacon Hill, the end of the Ridgway walk with splendid views of the Vale of Aylesbury. The final descent being a walk to Tring railway station. This is the final part of the Ridgeway series of walks.
There are some steep ascents and descents. Dress suitably for the time of year. No exit points. Please bring a packed lunch.
