Overview

From the free car park in Kirkby Stephen we will walk to the village of Hartley, then onto the permissive route courtesy of the John Strutt Foundation along the old Stainmore railway line. From there we will go up Fell Lane and onto access land to reach the summit of Long Rigg (413m) which commands views to the Northern Pennines and the Eden Valley. Then we descend to the C to C minor road before footpaths and old railway line back to Kirkby Stephen.
