Overview

Starting at the  NT Car Park in Rosthwaite, we take good paths across the fields to cross the River Derwent near Longthwaite Youth Hostel. We then begin a long ascent initially around Johnny's Wood, then close by Tongue Gill to the Climbing Hut and Rigghead Quarries before reaching a Col where we turn north to the summit of High Spy, we then continue north for a short while before starting our descent down Nitting Haws, just beyond the Water Works we will turn south to pass Hollows Farm and then continue around the base of Castle Crag following the River Derwent back to Rosthwaite.
