Starting at Stratford station, we will walk briefly through the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Path, along the Jubilee Greenway, and a short section of the London Loop. Then up the River Lee Navigation passing Hackney Marsh and Walthamstow Marshes. Lunch will be at Springfield Park where there is a park and a small cafe. After our lunch stop we continue north along the canal walking around Tottenham Marshes and then back to Tottenham Hale station.
There are water birds including shags and herons, and robins and blackbirds spotted in the winter trees as I walked along the canal.
The walk is flat and there is some mud but only in a few areas, being mostly tarmac underfoot.
This is a leisurely walk but we will have a brisk pace.
Toilets available at Stratford Westfield and there is one toilet at the Springfield Park cafe.
Many exit points, with buses and train and underground options.
There are underground and overground options to reach Stratford station and local buses.
No booking required.
The finishing time is an estimate only and will be dependent on a number of factors such as, weather, the speed at which the group walks and the number of breaks taken.
