Overview

Our walk begins at Armathwaite Bridge. Passing below it, we walk along the banks of the River Eden with great views up & down the river.  We then rise up through the lovely Coombs Wood with good paths along the way.  Leaving the woodland we pass through the hamlets of Longdales, Bascodyke, Rowfoot and Ainstable Village, our route using paths through pasture land and some minor road walking.  At the highest points we are rewarded with wonderful views in all directions.  From the church in Ainstable we follow paths through farm land leading us downhill back to the banks of the  River Eden and back into Armathwaite where, hopefully, we can enjoy refreshments in one of the local hostelry gardens.
