From the library, we walk through Bridgford Park then along the remaining part of the embankment of the former Nottingham to Melton railway. We then follow a number of quiet roads and paths to reach Melton Road. Here we join the former railway track known as the Green Line. This wooded path cuts through the built up area.
The path leads to the village of Edwalton. After a short stretch of road walking, we join a path that borders Gamston and leads to the former Grantham Canal.
After a pleasant walk along the canal towpath, we return to Bridgford Park and the West Bridgford Library.
This walk is part of my Flat 5 Series There are no stiles and the paths are well made. Mostly the walk is along paths with some road walking.
There is no need to book for this walk, just turn up on the day.
During the walk, there will be a drinks stop. After the walk, there is the opportunity to grab a drink, snack or meal at one of the local cafes or restaurants.
There are several car parks in the area (charges apply). There is some free on street parking available within a short walk (some have permit parking only or time restriction so check before parking).
Public transport: various buses from Nottingham city centre, Keyworth, Cotgrave, Edwalton, Radcliffe. Please check before travelling.
