This is a linear walk starting at Moor Bridge tram stop and ending at Kimberley. The first section follows the Robin Hood Way through Bulwell Hall Park and then goes round the Nottingham City Golf Club. Then we pass near to the old Hucknall airfield, last used by Rolls Royce for aero engine testing, now subject to new housing and industrial developments. The next stretch is due south across the M1 to join the track of one of the many dismantled railways in this area. This leads us past the Hovis Bakery and into the town of Kimberley. The last section of the walk traverses the Great Northern Railway Path. This is a picturesque area with a stream and a number of footbridges. There is an abundance of flowers and shrubs, truly a place of tranquillity. From there it is a short walk to Kimberley Centre.
This walk is part of my Flat 5 Series. There are no stiles or hills and the paths are well made. There will be a drink stop, so please bring any drinks or snacks with you.
There is no need to book the walk, just turn up on the day.
After the walk there is the opportunity to grab a meal or snack at the excellent Olde English Chippy on James Street. Alternatively, you can visit one of the local pubs (Cricketers Arms or the Nelson and Railway).
This is a linear walk, so the use of public transport is recommended. The start can be reached by tram from Nottingham City Centre to Moor Bridge tram stop. From the finish point in Kimberley, you can catch the Rainbow One bus which runs every 10 minutes to Nottingham City Centre.
If you come by car there is parking near the tram stop, but remember you will need to get back from the finish point by bus to Nottingham and tram back to your car.
