A leisurely walk through an area jam packed with vestiges of London’s cultural heritage. From Tower Hill station, we make our way down to the Thames to watch the Tower Bridge open at 11am. After a circuit of the Tower of London and St Katherine’s Dock, we cross Tower Bridge to join the Thames Path on the south side of the river and head east via Bermondsey to Rotherhithe. At Southwark Park, we leave the Thames path to explore the park and break for a picnic lunch near the café and toilets. From there, it is a short walk to the Brunel Museum (free for Art Pass, £6 over 65’s, £9 Adult).
We’ll stay at the museum for about an hour and a half then adjourn to the nearby historic Mayflower pub for a drink before heading to the station. However, people are free to leave the museum when they wish. Museum closes 3:30pm. It is a 2 minute walk to Rotherhithe station.
