Starting at Rosthwaite, we will take the footpath to Johnny Wood and walk by Scaleclose Force waterfalls eventually joining the higher traverse footpath to Castle Crag. From here there are some lovely views around the Borrowdale valley. Then it will be time to tackle the wonderful little fell of Castle Crag. At a mere 290 metres high, the views are amazing from the summit (weather permitting!) Once down, the footpath continues around Low Hows Wood where we will take a very slight detour to see Millican Daltons cave before returning to the start via The Cumbria Way along the River Derwent. This is all taken on very good paths although mostly rocky when care will be needed if wet. There are two steep sections on the walk which we will take our time to ascend at an easy pace.
