A scenic moderate walk at a leisurely pace through the quiet countryside of the North Lakes from Cockermouth, the birthplace and childhood home of poet William Wordsworth. Much of the route follows the Allerdale Ramble, taking in views of the fells and the hamlets of Isel, with its 12th century church, and Redmain before returning across fields to the Georgian town of Cockermouth
The walk follows grassy and woodland tracks, quiet minor roads and a short section of grassy verge adjacent the A595. The accumulative ascent of 1000 feet(300m) comprises two sections of gentle uphill gradients, firstly up to Watch Hill, then out of Isel.
