Overview

From Seatoller, we are going to walk along the valley floor to Seathwaite (not on the road) making our way up to Sprinkling Tarn via the path alongside Grains Gill and Ruddy Gill. Then, we will walk down to our second tarn of the day, Styhead Tarn and descend back into the valley via the Styhead Gill path.  The walk is on good, mostly pitched/stony paths with just a couple of sections that need care. The paths may be slippery in wet conditions. NB:  if the weather is exceptionally fine, we are in good time and the group agree, we MAY walk out and back to the Wainwright summit of Seathwaite Fell which will add on an extra 2.5 kilometres (1.6 miles) and approximately 1 hours' extra walking. The walk will be taken at a moderate pace throughout.
