A brisk walk cobbled together to connect the lesser seen back side of some of London's most fashionable residential areas and well known thoroughfares. You will need to imagine life when these now super up-market enclaves were filled with horses rather than supercar horsepower, but the walk has variety and the bonus of time in the open spaces of Holland Park where we will take a picnic lunch - there is cover in the event of rain, a cafe and toilets.
The walk is in 3 parts with multiple mews on each stretch (someone can count them?) and the variety of public transport options means walkers can easily say farewell at South Ken, Holland Park or one of the Central Line stations between there and our endpoint, Paddington. If the weather is favourable and walkers are keen, the route can be extended back across Hyde Park to add a mile or two.
This is a flat hard surface walk and there really are a lot of cobbles - slippery when wet - and lots of mostly minor roads to cross. Comfortable footwear is best. There are decent paths in the park too.
Start at Earls Court Station on the District and Piccadilly Lines
Finish at Paddington Railway Station on Elizabeth Line, Bakerloo Line, District and Circle Line
Both stations are in Zone 1.
No dogs or horses please.
No booking needed. Just turn up on time please.
The finishing time is an estimate only and will be dependent on a number of factors such as, weather, the speed at which the group walks and the number of breaks taken.
