Walking in and around London
The Inner London Area comprises ten groups. Our local groups cover inner and some of West London. Our other groups and area activities cover the whole of London, including supporting the orbital paths. We work with London's government and boroughs to enhance walking across the city.
Although London may not seem like an obvious location for walkers, there are over 4,000 Ramblers members living here, making Inner London one of the most populous areas for walkers to live in the UK. The Thames Path national trail, which runs through our Area, is the most walked path in the country!
Our website hosts guides to the Capital Ring and London Outer Orbital long distance paths and a popular library of self-guided walks.
London's walking community
Seven of the ten groups in the Inner London area cover two or three boroughs. The remaining groups, two age-focused and one short-walk group, cover the whole of Greater London.
Every group runs an organised walk programme; every walk is public transport accessible, a mix of walks in London and in the surrounding counties. These walks are a great way to meet new people and to find out about accessible places to walk. Most groups have a social programme and organise weekends away or holidays.
As an area, we represent the Ramblers at the highest level of London's government and work with other London-wide campaigning groups to improve walking in London and, by extension our neighbourhoods and communities.
